Max belonged to an elderly woman named Mrs. Abernathy. She was kind and gentle, with a smile that could brighten even the cloudiest days. Max loved her dearly and spent his days following her around the garden, chasing butterflies, or curling up by the fireplace.

The sky turned dark one afternoon, and the wind howled through the streets like a wild animal. The weather reports warned of a fierce storm headed their way — the biggest in decades.

As the storm approached, Max noticed something unusual — a small, frightened cat stuck on the roof of a neighbor’s house. The cat was trapped, meowing loudly in distress.

Mrs. Abernathy hugged him tightly, tears in her eyes. The cat, now named Stormy, curled up beside Max.
