pause

you might want to notice how far you've come

stop

step back

then turn around

to once again face

that which you

already defeated

the mountains climbed

raging rivers crossed

deserts survived

see your own success

each match met by you

the clear winner

over every foe

allow the awe

to fill you until

your shoulders drop

all muscles release

and just inhale

the wonder one feels

absorbing the magnitude

of a war-torn life in reverse

wonder may well

soften the ache

bruises from battle fade

smoke thins

flags lower

surrender hits

quiet enters the stillness

only whispers of old echoes

sometimes a sigh

heals broken bones

and sometimes it heals souls

Love thisโ€”short, sweet, and quietly powerful! Pause. Breathe. Smile at yourselfโ€”youโ€™ve already climbed every mountain you thought impossible. ๐Ÿ’–

  • Those last three lines were my favourite! Loved your beautiful poem!

Turn around. You already won. Breathe.
