Ice-chilled butter twirls,

liquefying before me-

Heaven's hot lava.

~

Squishy brown sugar,

and gritty, bone-white crystals,

swirled with butter, Fluff!

~

Silken, gold yolks flood

a vanilla-perfumed cream.

POOF! Flour avalanche!

~

Splintered, cocoa-sweet shards,

dusty and dark, rain into

gooey, light-mixed dough.

~

Overnight for flavor's sake?

Spoiled tastebuds say raw is best.

How can a Haiku -Sonnet make me hungry. Well done

  • I love your use of the form. And the incorporation of the senses is superb!

Abby! I am now craving cookie dough (first thing this morning) and I have you to thank for that! Looks like I'll be doing some "baking" after work now! Ps. This was a fabulous piece, I loved it so much! 💜🍪

MmMm, this made me crave cookie dough. When I lived in Portland, there was a place called Cookie Dough Café where you could get different flavors of raw dough in scoops, like ice cream… or get it sandwiched between two cookies. I loved the descriptive language, and the format. I’m assuming this is for the Sensational challenge? Because I could taste it.

Now that was cruelty in a haiku-'sonnet'! (The structure worked very well I thought. However, now that I'm greedy for home-baking I have to be off...

Dear Abby ~ I like all things "Squishy." But, If it ain't Chocolate why Bother! *I've written a short on behalf of - Pet Haven Minnesota - "Rescue." The Director is very much into "Cats" as you are. They name all of their 'Fosters'...a lovely touch. It's so nice to know that this silly 'Pet Tail Tale' brought them so much attention and for many 'New~Homes.' - Vocal Authors Community - Jay Kantor, Chatsworth, California 'Senior' Vocal Author
