Pastina

An Acrostic

By Paul StewartPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Pretty little pieces of pasta

absorbing that delicate chicken broth

sending me to my serene and happy place

The one where you are still alive

In your kitchen, often cooking for all of Scotland

No one could match you, biased I most definitely am

A once-in-a-lifetime individual, a hole in my heart you've left

Thanks for reading!

Had this sitting there. Not sure it's my best but I like it.

Aww, that is sad and sweet.

  • Nonna! 💖 Also, why can't I see the star shape? Wonderful acrostic!

So bittersweet. 💔 Today, I brought my star-shaped pastina with freshly grated cheese from Italy to work to share with Audrey. It was toddler approved. Food is such a powerful way to express love. Your Nonna truly loved you, which makes the loss cut deep. Thanks for sharing this.

Choosing your best would be difficult, to say the least. That said, this is a poignant and beautiful piece. Well done.

Oh, the turn away from the soup to the cook was so poignant. I felt like I missed her just the same. 😢
