Pastels in Harmony
A Huitian Poem on Unity
Different colours do work together.- Michelle Liew
This is for Emily Brinkley's Word Generator Poems challenge.
**********************************************************************
Red takes a leap, bold beyond compare
With strokes of passion, it fills the air
Blue hums gently, its soul so calm,
Its coloured presence, a gentle balm
Yellow steps forth, dying to shine
Yet fades too quickly, its brilliance beguiles
These colours now merge, they form a new hue
As one they create, their brilliance shines through.

N.B. This poem follows the Huitian structure. Huitian or 'return to field' is Chinese form of poetry that features parallelism - one line mirrors the other or rhymes with the other. Thus, the rhyme scheme would be abab cdcd and so on. It focuses on metaphysical or natural images, in this case, colour.
