Parking lot Prayers

I prayed today,

In the walmart parking lot,

Navigational system to orient my direction

I prayed today

In the concrete jungle atop the bones of indigenous people

I prayed in the language of my ancestors aloud

Beside a tree surrounded by gravel

I dug down deep to find the land

To give my offerings and gratitude

In the sacred space now occupied by walmart

I asked for help for the people

I asked for help for the ones I love

I ask for help so that I maybe helpful

Trust my faithfulness in loyalty to creation

It opens my eyes to raw beauty.

I am not afraid to pray today

In the walmart parking lot
