Paper Beneath it

Is stretched thin...

Oh, it starts again

With just a flick of a pen

Emotions flowing as ink drips

In huge gulps and tiny sips

Sweet and full, sour and dull

Lively, animated enough to lull

Daydreams and sunshine abound

Letters squished, stretched, round

Pulling, twisting, becoming flat

Holding on, letting go, all that

Came before, still remains

It circles back, entertains

Laughter lifts and smiles drift

Before emotions begin to sift

Ripped apart, glued together

Weight so heavy on this feather

Dipped in ink oh so black

If only I could take it back

But there it is, ink-stained

The paper beneath it, strained

surreal poetry
