smooth penetration, the incantation of childhood dreams
raindrops hit the hard concrete surface
stick firmly into the wood
then metal and glass substitutes
ornaments carved into the mosaic of a Roman bench
all mixed up in one moment of happiness
smoothness of feelings and thoughts
soon, it will all become
lost in the mud and surrounding madness
pure floods of electricity
through a high voltage substation
electric shock from manipulated medicinal mash
contextual memory versus logical thinking
smoothing the diversion from the main path
was I allowed?
to be a circuit breaker and still survive?
others will come after me
and someone has to be
a servant wrapped around their fingers
‘not me this time’, I scream

Images from within the asylum. Your opening memories of a joyous moment in time are so wistful, dreamlike, wafting through our minds as though they might almost but not quite be grasped & held onto. The terrors of primitive treatments, shock therapy, remind me of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", though in that it is the lobotomy with the zombified aftermath. But that desperation to avoid/escape punishment--in the book/movie, the threat to tell his mother--here the simple terror of becoming the "circuit breaker" for blind attempts by others to bring healing that differ little from the self-abuse of cutting or drinking or drugs or anything that will numb the pain. As though believing that hitting our thumbs with a hammer will make us forget that we have a headache.
