pains of patriarchy

a poem

By Kayleigh Fraser ✨Published 2 years ago 1 min read

Crying alone in a mouldy cell,

stripped bare and impoverished, at the

familiar mercy of cruel command,

endowing control over what should

be her own, by dignity, by right.

Prisoner to the hand feeding her,

the mind unknowing whether she is

5, 35 or married again.

To her it's the same relentless pain.

There is a profound pain a woman feels in a patriarchy. I am glad that we are expressing it more. Brilliant work Kayleigh!
