Pain...unapologetic...unyielding.

Darkness bound. A disappearing into relief.

Pain...brewed in agony

Steeped in suffering

Descends

As blinding slivers of misery

Masked in tribulation's light

Assailing your senses

And breathing becomes vicious gasps of flame

It arrives as not so subtle ached pulses

Inviting the torment to increase exponentially

Escalating to horrible cannibalistic bites,

Gnawing at your insides with tiny annoying teeth

Exacting revenge for you know not what

Unapologetically it begins to roar

Through your body like a raging forest fire

You try to find a suitable way

To position your poor suffering body

To ease the trauma to your soul

Sitting up hurts, lying down makes you scream

Being prone multiplies the red hot agony

Resting your back against the wall

Is a painful lesson in extreme suffering

There is no energy to stand

You wonder if death has suddenly

Entertained a warped and evil desire

For you to keep it company...eternally

Like a silent blackhearted avenging sickled angel

It stands waiting, patience he has in abundance

Pain killers...maybe they should just complete the job

Kill me now...but the devil knows you are not prepared

Not ready for the beyond or the below

So he just tortures you...laughing, enjoying your torment

Sleeping pills...yes they might be the answer

But...

What if I don't wake up there in my bed

But on a soft cloud somewhere above

In the blue azure beyond

Free of pain. Maybe that would be best!!!

You sit immobile for a long time...

The pills are finally kicking in

And though they only mask the pain

They feel heaven sent

Darkness beckons...a welcome relief draws nigh

Pain, or no pain...

Your body gently leans toward your pillow

And you...forever grateful for the invention of pills

Trusting your fate to the angels of mercy

Welcomes sweet relief...though temporary

As Your entire pain-filled being...

VANISHES into sleep.

To sleep, perchance to dream of beautiful painlessness.

You've captured the unbearable weight of pain with both brutal honesty and beauty.

Gurl I'm sorry that pain continues to visit you.Tramadol helped dial down my pain. Have you tried it? Ice may help as well. You beautifully combated that pain with your pen. To be able to develop and deliver such a stunning poem while being in immense pain is beyond miraculous. May these painful days vanish for good, swiftly. Praying heavily for your complete healing and peace of mind. Sending a big hug of comfort. Lord Jesus please minister to Novel. May you send your angels to comfort her right away. Amen

  • Pain... Sometimes, when I say nothing, I am feeling... I respect you too much to minimize your truth. Pain... Been there, done that, celebrate every time it leaves. I send heartfelt thoughts... prayers that what you need most you receive.

Agh, pain. I truly hope you are feeling better and the darned pain vanishes...disappears like the horror which it is. Pain well described.

  • The metaphors you have chosen suit pain perfectly. Well written, Novel
