Pacific Palisades
A Prayer and A Plea
I sit here
In the comfort
Of my home
In safety and warmth.
Just a few hours south
The scene is very different
The pacific palisades
Wiped out by fire
Thousands of home
Gone
Memories destroyed.
Broken memories
Treasures gone forever.
This isn't a rich
Or poor thing
It's a human thing!
~~~
So many lives
Broken by a tragedy
Hurricane force winds
Fueling fires
In dry regions
Not only the
Pacific Palisades
But throughout Los Angeles
While some people
Act as if its something
Deserved.
~~~
And as I sit here
In the warmth of my room
I say a prayer for
Those who have lost
Everything.
Broken memories
Can't always be
Repaired
And lives lost
Can never be replaced.
~~~
So before you
Utter the words
Oh they can always
Rebuild again,
Please keep in
Mind
That’s not always
The case!
It is a sad thing, the wild fires that burn everywhere. We had some in NJ a couple years ago, and the skies were cloudy with smoke here in Delaware also. I can't imagine what it is like for them. I hope your poem brings awareness for them.
It is sad Michelle. Have been following it on the news. You live in California so I know you feel it more. Very nice supportive poem for what is going on in your state. Well Done!!!
