Own Your Colors

a poem

By LACY MARIE MEYER Published 5 years ago 1 min read

don’t patronize

me

or treat

me

like a

doll.

you will

eventually

get it:

see,

i’m not short-

I’m Tall.

you can’t

trap

a Butterfly

or be a

disco downer spy

or

project

your insecurities

of mediocrities

when i am

Vulnerable

on bended knees-

i care for

the

willing to change.

the inner

Voyagers

unpeeling layers

of suppose-to’s

and

should have’s

and hate.

we see

a golden future—

one where

we stand proud

shouting:

“I

Am

Who I Am!”

open your

Eyes

Heart

Mind, or

you will never

be able to

spot the

rainbow

if you don’t

OWN

your true colors.
