Gray skies and tall grasses,
the perfect place to nurse heartaches
A Socal Girl searches for seasons:
autumn color splashes
to prove that time still turns.
All things grow old and fade away...
Better not stay down for too long
She struggles to walk along the
path and follow the white-tailed deer
A golden lab nudges her stomach,
gravity pulls her in
-ward, Until pain colors
everything.
She cannot bear waking
No one knows what is wrong
The yellow liquid shines inside her ,
a bright dawn whiting out the stars
If they can't find their way
They will lose her
Take out anything
Shuttle her to the void!
Beyond body:
Dark blue, her ovary wheezes
Asphyxiating under its own weight
It takes months for normal's return
Each step leaves her breathless
But better than staying in bed with the hurt
they forgot to remove
Walking a childhood street
Conquering it block by block
Cataloguing the flowers
Playing with neglected dogs through fences
The present hurts less as it grows into her distant past
The world grows greener, rain touches down
She climbs a mountain to chase spring
Then peaks then bronze tan lines
Gravel in the rain, she falls badly
A twisted ankle, made worse by bravado
Her heart breaks again,
less cleanly
on a summer night as frogs croak,
hoping someone will find them
Stronger now, she knows how to walk with a broken heart
Finding beauty in small flowers in the desert, along the sidewalk
Looking up to find kind hazel eyes smiling back
