Out, Damned Spot!

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Found the old letters you wrote me, the words you let me believe were true and meant forever.

Every line being filled with the hope you shoved down my throat,

some lines filled with lies,

others with a life you never meant to be real.

I am left with so many unanswered questions and wounds I have tried to keep closed.

I have to make peace with knowing that you're okay without me,

knowing how hurt you left me and never blinking an eye.

I moved to a new world in hopes that I may lose the memories of you,

but old wounds find a way to reopen.

Like Lady Macbeth, I wish my memories of you were out like that damned spot.
