Our House On Rouge
A Poem for Jacob and Kelsi
Our small house on Rouge was a perfect fit for a family of three.
It’s where you first found your independence, and
I found my resolve.
Where I pulled up stale shag carpet and down outdated wallpaper,
Then painted the walls ivory to make it our home.
Where you played with Barbie dolls, and you collected Poke Man cards.
Where you both learned to ride your bikes and how to fold laundry.
Where you roamed outside all summer,
Then rushed home with dirty faces and electric smiles.
That house on Rouge, our first home, is where we blossomed, together.
Where we laughed, and cried, loved, and grew.
Anytime I reminisce about home, my memory goes back to
Those days with the three of us finding our way in our small house on Rouge.
