A farmer

Breeding goats and sheep for

County fair in May

Decided they will learn to speak before the Labor Day.

Each day the

Farmer went to barn, and

Getting up on stool

He taught the sheep the

Intricacies that they teach in school. The goats have

Joined the farmer's class, their

Kids still chewing hay,

Lined up to learn the public speech for County Fair in

May. The time flew by in farmer's wink

No effort

Or a hitch- the sheep and goats began to think about their

Public speech. They

Quarreled daily at the barn,

Rhetoric! Logic! Grammar!

Secluded on the quiet farm. Eliminating stammer.

The day has come; With opened latch

Upon the town square, distinguished gentlesheep in

Vests have joined the county fair.

When silence fell, all eyes on sheep: their

Xenophone has rang -

Yet only equal bigots could Sheepspeech understand

Zoo bought them 's what I heard..

This read like Shirley Jackson does Animal Farm a la Shel Silverstein, and I am so here for it. Delightfully dystopian.
