They call me

Golden retriever

Perpetual sunshine

“Dear” and “darling”

Warm smile, jolly chatter

The kind one

Who goes with the flow

You might not know

Hidden below

This glossy glow

Roiling under skin’s tension

A gilded creature undulates

Slick serpentine force

Akin to a tempest

In a tea cup

On occasion she becomes

Solar rays; blasting earth

With radioactive intensity

Electrifying polar fields

And evoking vivid colours

Though held captive

Immobilized by

Polite charm and social graces

It has become

A day where

She would rough ride

All nameless suits

Busy type-A

Self-important fellows

Inflated, efficient arrogance

With impeccable schedules

Made to kneel

By their silk tie leash

Knots tightening

As mouths, dry with desire

Become silent supplicants

Submitting to

A new timetable

Surrendering will

Body and soul

It is not her

Who has no nerve

She gnashes her teeth

Snapping at my short hand

And long fuse

No niceties are left within me

Still, I must remain

Pliant and pleasant

Professionally gentle

Coaxing smiles from

Smug executives

Who sigh out dismissal

To put me in my place

Today is one of

Those furious occasions

I desperately itch

To let her out

⚪️Wow, the floor is like what… beige ~ I can almost see where the light source is coming from ⚪️ the contrast to her legs — the single shadowed leg… the wrists. I love it! ~ I liked that you showed us that under the ‘glossy glow’ … ‘ the ‘gilded creature undulates’ loving the three g’s and the out of the box thinking ⚪️’…made to kneel under the silk tie leash…’ I love how you de- centre them through their ridiculous clothing ~ letting HER out can be tempting. Fantastic work as always Aspen. ♥️♥️ congratulations on your top story ♥️♥️🎉

Well. This was an easy subscribe. Well done on a stunning, blistering, take-no-prisoners Top Story. That is an awesome and inspired image and your words have an elegant brevity to them that demands each line to be read and chewed over. I can't wait to dive into more of your work. It just reminds me how stupid so many people in this world can be when they see a quiet and reserved person, restrained and complicit and don't figure there might be more below the surface. This is just brilliant. I looked up Oro too - Gold. Brilliant title.

Dang, this itself is the key slipping into that silk tie knot—twisting tighter until the mask cracks and the real Oro steps out. 🥰

I love how vividly you capture that hidden fire beneath a calm exterior. There’s such strength and intensity in your words. Great poem!

We've all been there. If only they knew what lies beneath...

  • Gurl, do it for the plot. Let her out 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Jokes aside, I'm so sorry for your experience. What did they do this time?
