Alphonse Osbert, "The Muse at Sunrise," 1918
Nothing is more ordinary than dawn
Nature clearing her throat to sing the day
But before the mundane is seen and gone
Permit a brief, contemplative delay

Understand that this baptism with light
Distinguishes a self from a grey throng
What the goddess translates from opaque night
Is a set of notes that form new day’s song

Difference and repetition are here
Sifting from sameness something singular
Being is mostly dark, that much is clear
Light, motion and life are irregular

Savor the standard strangeness of sunrise
Allow familiar freshness to surprise

I absolutely love this, D.J.! I'm not familiar with the artwork, but it's stunning. I'm fortunate to get to see the sunrise most work days while I walk the dog or drive to work and the lines "Sifting from sameness something singular" and "Allow familiar freshness to surprise" really resonated.
"Savor the standard strangeness of sunrise". Sibilance so soothing, D.J. Wonderful. I don't know where you find this art.
Wow, DJ! This was incredibly beautiful! 🌟💓
This is a beautiful piece. I love the visual feel of a "new day's song." Simply lovely.
Advice I need to take to heart. Well done, “being…irregular” were my favorite lines
Confronted by the everyday occurrence of dawn, you paint a portrait which enlivens the thought of dawn and the preciousness of its quiet simplicity. The idea of morning “singing” offers an excellent note.
