What actually goes on in the mind of our youths

Saddened broken feelings of destitute

Peering out the window of the homes they live

Mental abuse drug use sins the community won't forgive

The awakening is real as he come to understand the ordeal

That the story of his life may already have been written

And the only remedy is to present his case to the courts of appeal

With intense emotion he presents his argument and evidence

Why he deserves a chance and believes his right to a fair life was stolen

Jury rendered their decision but it wasn't what he was hoping

Negligent homicide was the verdict for which was found guilty

Oppositional defiant high school drop out the list is filthy

Lack of leadership, shattered dreams, broken promises he object

Case closed the Judge ordered the young man sat down to introspect

The coming years filled with neglect, feelings of reject and low self-respect

Unable to inhibit the tears thinking of mistakes he couldn't correct
