Orange Tango
Star of the Evening

Rain canters down, autumnal darkness here:
tenebrous, purple sky—an aching night sky,
swollen in mist, all stars in fear,
the only one tonight is this lantern of mine.
Star of this evening, then, angelic in light,
ambience swaying, kind and supple,
sweet tender glow with a warming might,
such a potent lantern at once so subtle.
Orange tango of the flame
keeps the heart of the world alight,
one small fire so masterfully tame...
sweet tender glow… from the lantern’s light.
You teach me clearly, lantern of the street,
lantern of my room, lantern of the park…
you teach me Life is for one feat:
to cast some light into the dark.
About the Creator
Oscar Richard
An artist, an alchemist; quixotic, schmaltzy, fervid... Probably pompous, and perfectly, ordinarily self-deprecating.
