Open Wound
Blank verse poetry
Pressing a band-aid down on an open wound does not stop the bleeding from coming, it only slows the process down.
If you want to heal a wound, the correct way is to stop touching it.
When you think about scabs and scars, it doesn't seem that hard.
But what happens when a wound becomes so infected that you end up with a disease?
You get sick.
That is what trauma can do to us.
It can leave invisible scars and wounds that seem impossible to heal.
So you can apply pressure on your wounds all you want.
It only manages to slow down your progress.
I think the same thing applies to trauma.
The more you touch that scar or wound, the harder it is to heal from it.
Sometimes you become so comfortable with the idea of being broken that it can be hard to heal.
Everyone you meet is traumatized.
Whether it be by an ex-lover, a friend, or a family member.
We all just manage to pack ours up differently.
I'm going to restate my original statement for you.
Pressing a band-aid down on an open wound does not stop the bleeding from coming, it only slows the process down.
So allow yourself to heal.
Stop glamourizing being broken or damaged goods.
Stop touching the wound.

I'm a little confused so I hope you don't mind me asking this. Pressing a bandaid on a wound, do you mean it's equivalent to suppressing a trauma? Touching the wound frequently makes things worse like infections and that sort of stuff. So we shouldn't talk about our trauma? How are we supposed to heal from the trauma then? I'm so sorry if these questions are dumb, I'm sometimes a bit slow π π π
