Only Need 1 Million Dollars

The Price of Happiness

By Shanon Angermeyer NormanPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

Today, some people think one million dollars isn't that much.

I think they are crazy, but they think I am, so I guess that's fair.

All I need is one million dollars.

Then I'd never have to worry about money again.

All the pain, stress, worries, and hard work would finally be over.

I could finally live, breath, enjoy my life.

Just one million dollars. That's all it would take.

100 k pays off all debts.

100 k gets me a permanent home and a nice car.

100 k allows me to shop for exactly what I want.

The remaining 700,000 would last me until my 70th birthday

at a yearly salary of $45,000 which is more than I've ever gotten in my 53 years of slavery.

Just one million dollars.

That's the price of happiness.

Though this poem does not rhyme, the honesty and precision of thought is admirable. So many people throw money away at the casino or on lottery tickets hoping that they can escape from the chains and bonds of financial slavery. But if any have actually won a million, how long did they last with that much money? Did they lose it all because they were stupid or too generous? Or did they have a plan called self-interest that got them to their 70th birthday comfortably?
