Perfect for a Homebody

Another day, sun’s shining, birds singing

Bag ready for work, drink in hand,

Crank her up, smoke startles, car quits,

Don’t look at the dash… not now,

Engine light be like “ heyyyy!”

Frigging, are you kidding me?!?

Great… blood rising, pupils dilating,

How to get to work, mind racing,

Insult to injury, this car is

Jump starting anger, swear words

Knowing she’s had enough now.

Lips trembling, tears falling down

Messing half hour makeup job,

Not again, stupid car! keep breathing ….

Options needed, seeded, showing

Problem solving, fear dissolving so

Quit stressing, end the guessing ,

Reach for the phone, heart racing,

Search for the number. Stop, that’s it!

Time rushes and crawls as fingers dance,

Uber…. exhilarating, rescuing, texting

Viewpoint changing, exchanging

“ What is the address?” , a noble knight

Xavier, white car, armor shining, saying

“ You’re welcome.” Relieved, she sighs.

Zero tolerance for that stupid car of hers.

For Fun
