One Life, Just One

Why Aren’t We Running Like We Are On Fire, Towards Our Wildest Dreams?

My heart felt at home for a moment

It was safe, no fear left to face

Somewhere in the words, we found forever

And then , it all fell out of place.

Your words found me, like shade in the sunshine,

For the first time, joy poured from my soul

Swirled all around me like fireworks

Then, rain clouds formed, exposing a hole

*

All along, I was just a challenge

A piece of a puzzle, you lacked

Then you started playing a different game

And I left you feeling , like you were trapped

*

No longer everything that you needed

Not even a choice left to make

You moved on, like I was the problem

All along, your biggest mistake

*

So, I’m left standing here, holding pieces

Pictures of what you wanted me to see

Void of the things, that complete who I was

With no clue of who I used to be

*

Now the definition of home, I have replaced

Peace and comfort, decorate - down the hall

And I know, that I have grace and value

I am all that I need, after all

*

There is comfort in survival and growing

Comfort comes when you finally decide

That life is a short trip, with brilliant views

Get out of the way and enjoy the ride
