One last walk is all I would ask
One last time, not the normal task
A walk of excitement, sights and sounds
A walk where new smells would be found
You were so tiny and frail when you came into my life
Yet you always knew when I was going through strife
Your cold nose and soft paw would nudge me gently and sweet
You got it, you understood, our communication ran deep
When I needed a friend, honest and true
God knew what I needed and he gave me you
Walk now in the clouds, chasing butterflies and your tail
Walk in the heavens where beauty prevails
I know you wait for me at the door
You have done it thousands of times before
One last walk is all I would ask
One day in heaven it will come to pass
About the Creator
Virginia Scarbrough
I love poetry and putting my feelings into words - words that can help others, words to give thought, encouragement and hope. Sharing pain, joy and raw emotions... that is the beauty of true poetry to me
