One Day At A Time

One day at a time

I face my mountain and surely climb

there is much to learn on this difficult path

and by these lessons the wheat separates from the chaff

given the challenge that this journey proves to be

sometimes makes it tempting to pray it all away from me

but that's not the way that the challenge works

for it is the adversity that creates the endurance, the strengths, and all Love's perks

so many facets of character to build

I thank God I am not alone in this character guild

yet sometimes those close tend to fall away

but by the Lord's loving Spirit for them I do pray

nevertheless God sees me through my faults

so not being irritable, bitter, or discontent

will my progress be made halt

one day at a time
