Once You Were My Dad

Once you were my dad

By Leanna lanePublished about a year ago 1 min read

When I was just a girl, you gave me wings to fly

You taught me to chase my wildest dreams, and shared stories beneath the sky

Those same wings would soon tell a story of a man who had once been my father

Edges battered from his lies, he was nothing but a charmer

He tore down the very dreams he once told me to chase

Now I’m left with memories of a dad I’d soon want to replace

Some days I find myself laying down gazing amongst the stars

Wishing God had dealt me a better hand of cards

Maybe then I’d find myself soaring like a dove

Sharing stories of how I achieved my wildest dreams with my fathers love
