I speak you softly into the wind,
whispering to the desert blooms,
envious of all the room they have, to be seen by you.
I carry the hope of you on the breeze, that will someday meet your hairs.
I pray you dream of me there, knowing your air is my air too.
I dream of a spring that quenches my thirst for your touch.
For now, I drink from pure waters that somewhere hydrate you too,
trusting our currents will converge and the water in me will become the water in you.
I see you in the blooms, as the petals reach out to flower in my soul.
I beg them to breathe me deeply into your stone memories,
Colour me and allow me to touch those ancient bones and silk strands of hair that long to be called beloved by my lips.
I ache to come home to the wisdom of your love that meets my cheek,
in the shadowed valley of darkness that calls me out to remember hope.
The light returns in me when I set my sights upon my trust in you and I entwined.
The sun warms me slowly into the hot nectar of your embrace,
breaking through the wintered shell, my leaves grow up to meet your sight and call me home into your heart.
What season will again depart as I search for you out there?
I walk about, and see you everywhere.
and still, I’ve yet to lay my hand on your chest or feel your tongue speak my name.
The wait to meet you, searing my lonely feet with pain.
I keep moving though, because I know, I’m close to that first greeting.
I walk along the waters edge, a crisp blue day, while the grasses sway and I hear light footsteps across the bay.
The drizzle clouds my view, yet I know it’s you, by the way my heart settles into familiar dew.
I remember all the times I’ve felt you, gravity pulls me your way.
I see you begin to sway.
You’re moving like the grass, flowing like the waters, gliding on the winds, kissing flower petals with your beauty.
I get closer and wonder if this will be our day.
Will this be the day our waters merge from the streams of our pupils and we see the love between us for the first time.
You’re looking up at the great tree and I wonder if you’re seeing me, like I see you in all that moves.
You turn around and there I am, standing wet and waiting for the colours of our eyes to reflect these endless skies of love within my heart.
You fall to your knees with a longing weep and I hear your whispers once again, travel across the wind to my ears.
“My love, My Love, My Love, we’re finally here."
