Stumble bumble feelings rumbled in my chest

On the day I noticed the sky.

When had I stopped looking up?

When had I lost my sense of wonder?

How long had it been?

I noticed that I had changed.

It was too much.

I did not greet the day.

I did not sing out of joy.

I did not dance

So my body turned stiff.

My legs became heavy,

Too heavy to run.

How I once loved to run.

On swift feet I'd rush

Just to feel the rush.

On the day I noticed the sky

I could not remember when

I had last felt peace in quiet.

When had I stopped being at peace

With my soul?

Must've been the day my gaze fell.

With new determination

I breathed in and

Cotton candy clouds

Became my friends.

The sky was full

Of creatures and their stories.

I exhaled and

They invited me to play.

I laughed at their antics.

They asked why I took myself

So seriously

So I laughed at myself too.

And then I remembered peace

Thrives in self-assurance.

Birds flitted from branch to branch,

Each call received a response.

They were

Blue like happiness.

Blue like the open sky.

When one did not follow,

The others circled back.

Then they flew off together.

Even without company

I knew I was not alone.

On the day I noticed the sky

It was so full of vibrant colors.

The kind that are

Only visible after a storm.

The sun was setting.

Golden, melting into clouds

That glowed like molten lava.

Everything was set ablaze.

My mind was free to wander.

I hoped I'd never forget to look up again.
