Olive and the Ocean

A Reminiscent Poem

By Katherine DockeryPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Olive

Her smile so bright gazing at the water.

First time of the Summer, excitement grows!

Lover of the beach our youngest daughter,

betraying her Winter birth month she does.

Her heart pours out dancing upon the sand

as she makes her way through the shells and rocks

her sandals fly off I find them; in hand.

She makes it to the waters' edge, so soft.

She plays a game with her dearest old friend

running away then back screaming laughter.

Into the water and stops. That's the end!

She comes to me and grabs her shoes after.

"It's too early." I did say. "It's too cold."

She sighs, "Next month." to her Ocean friend old.
