Old Miller's Pond

The words are mine, the rest generated

By Steve LancePublished 2 months ago 2 min read

Youtube video is the poem put to Music.

Warm night settlin’ on the old front porch,

Moon burnin’ bright like a midnight torch.

Tuckered out from work with nothin’ left to do,

Cooler’s out of beer, night might as well be through.

She steps to the door, then she turns back ’round,

Next thing I know she’s flyin’ ’cross the ground.

Runnin’ through the field, her arms spread wide,

Gleam in her eye — headin’ for her wilder side.

-

The fire’s burning, she’s turnin’ wild—

Everything about her drivin’ me outta my mind…

-

Too damn pretty for a boy to ignore,

Moonlight dancin’ on the water till dawn,

Sandals on the beach and jeans on the shore,

She’s skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

Laughin’ wild, callin’ out for more,

Fever risin’ watchin’ her just carry on,

Now there’s two pair of jeans lyin’ on the shore—

We’re skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

_

A warm night and a private spot,

It ain’t very much, but damn it’s a lot.

A country girl who’s never scared of work,

Splashin’ in the water with a playful smirk.

She knows how to sweat and she knows how to play,

She turns a long week into one good day.

I reach out my hand and she gives me that grin,

Turnin’ this boy’s world into a whirlwind.

-

Yeah, she’s the kind you don’t outgrow—

Got dirt on her feet and fire in her soul…

-

Too damn pretty for a boy to ignore,

Moonlight dancin’ on the water till dawn,

Sandals on the beach and jeans on the shore,

She’s skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

Laughin’ wild, callin’ out for more,

Fever risin’ watchin’ her just carry on,

Now there’s two pair of jeans lyin’ on the shore—

We’re skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

-

Some people dream of a house on a hill,

Put off livin’, waitin’ on a better deal.

I’ll take a moonlit swim with a country girl,

Let the rest of them go try to rule the world.

Some folks wait forever to take a bite of life,

Work all day long and sleep away the night.

But if the moon is out, I’ll stay and play,

And never regret one long, hard day.

-

Whatever comes, whatever will be—

Tonight’s the only thing we need…

-

Too damn pretty for a boy to ignore,

Moonlight dancin’ on the water till dawn,

Sandals on the beach and jeans on the shore,

She’s skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

Laughin’ wild, callin’ out for more,

Fever risin’ watchin’ her just carry on,

Now there’s two pair of jeans lyin’ on the shore—

We’re skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond.

We’re skinny dippin’ in old Miller’s pond…

I love this and totally relate to the skinny dipping girl. I think she and I would be good friends.
