Old Blue

Rusted, Faded, Dented

By danielle seversonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Old Blue

You were once new

Shiny blue coat

Now rusted, faded, and dented

First adult purchase

Husband wanted to demo you

Sold

For one hundred dollars

Stunk like grease and gasoline

Going to miss clicking of the old cassette player

Cruising the back roads, music blaring

With the windows cranked down

Scent of the country air

I saw you in the car lot many moons ago

Goodbye Old Blue

Many memories gone

But not forgotten

Exhaust fumes erode made me car sick

Now as you sit at the dealership

Going be a tin can

You are now gone

Thank you for the memories

Old Blue I loved you

When you were new to me

The inside was like fresh linens on a clothesline

Thanks for 18 years

No heat in the dead of winter

Keys locked in

Hood dented from a deer

Rusted, dented, faded

Good bye Old Blue
