"Oh Jeff......
For Raymond G. Taylor's "Oh Jeff flash fiction challenge"

“Oh Jeff…. I love you too..but
our love was built
around a fragile dream.
My husband’s heart,
echoes steadily
in your chest.
*
I can no longer wear this mask.
*
It all began with
my obsession
in finding you,
the one who
was restored
by my love’s
pulse of life.
*
At first,
our time
didn’t feel
like a passionate crime.
Meeting of souls
looking for connection,
a balm for healing.
In search of simply
feeling alive once more.
*
Yet as each
sunset painted the skies,
the silent turn of the year.
An awakening
to my senses
like a flower opening to the
soft golden rays.
*
You are not him.
*
I can’t go on,
with this love,
for it’s as tainted
as the murky ocean.
*
I am not your ladylove,
I am just someone,
who is clinging
to a ghost who
is in heaven above.
*******
Thank you for reading.

This is a lovely and doubly heartbreaking poem! Good luck!
Wow! Imaginative take on the challenge ✅. Poor Jeff🥺.
Kind of morbid, hugging the heart beating in another. But feelings lead us down dark paths, we have to absolve ourselves when we are ready. Interesting take on the Jeff saga.

A wonderful twist in love - person - spirit. Well done
This is very good, Daphne! Original and well written!
Wonderful work, yet so sad.
Wonderful poem filled with feeling with a fabulous and unexpected twist! Really well done!
Oh clever. This was so good.
Oh wow, this felt so poignant. Loved your take on this challenge!
This is different in my eyes a romantic poem and a way of telling a story.
This is clever and beautifully written, I really liked the idea of trying to (re)find love in this way. Well done
Well-wrought! Especially that last stanza, which clues us in quite eloquently to the reason for this love's collapse!
Nicely done .
Yes. This is the rebound question, Daphne. Wow, and if this was a scenario it could even be a movie!
Fabulous work! Very thought-provoking!
