. . . is a flame. . .

Ignited by the interpretation

of injurious intention.

Even if mal intent

was not.

In a case where innocence

is never ruled, the only

verdict to be made

is one of foul-play.

The victim enthrones

the witness stand

claiming offense

like one who shouts “witch!”

No evidence is compiled

nor a weapon to exhibit,

just a negligent pride

sitting on the bench.

And the court is set ablaze

with vicarious animosity,

that can only be extinguished by

the first to brandish the wick.
