"Horse Fair" Rosa Bonheur
If wishes were horses
beggars would ride
every wish would be
waiting at the gate
when the sun rises
and carry my hopes
under the moonlight
but that's not how it
works in real life
mine float up
in the sky just
out of reach
I get a ladder but
it won't reach
so I grow wings and
fly up there but
they elude me
even still.

Is it out of reach, or do your standards and expectations rise as you get closer to the last milestone, the last hope, the last prayer? Love this piece though! :)
Lovely little flight of hope and persistence! Even if they elude you, your wings are proof you’re rising. 💖
Yes, hopefully someday. Loved your poem!
Such yearning in this one. Great job. The action in the paiting is great too!
