I feel green today whilst stood amongst trees.

Barefoot I stand with my shoes thrown aside,

not green with envy but feeling at ease.

In the forest I’m home: no need to hide.

The deep earthy green of the mossy stones

makes me feel alive, rooted where I stand.

Under my feet it seeps into my bones,

I’m grounded here and at one with the land.

Trees are my teachers, they taught me to thrive:

Feeding my soul, they nourished my essence.

Like the green pine trees that always survive

evergreen and growing: I am iridescent.

Proud though I am of the depths of my soul,

It’s the green in my heart that makes me whole.
