I’ve always been a writer, prose is my steady art,
Yet poetry, at times, has played a vital part.
Three decades ago, a Valentine’s rhyme,
Opened the door to a job sublime.
In a media house, my career took flight,
All thanks to verses penned one fateful night.
A few other times, with rhythm and grace,
Poetry has led me to the right place.
It’s more than words; it’s a key to the soul,
A bridge to connections that make us whole.
Today I pause, on this special day,
World Poetry Day—let’s honour its sway.
To poetry and all it stands for true,
A celebration of hearts, of me and of you.
For in its lines, we find our voice,
A timeless art that makes us rejoice.
*World Poetry Day is celebrated annually on March 21st. UNESCO established it in 1999 to promote linguistic diversity and poetic expression.*
