I have two mothers, but one is dear to my heart,

One gave birth to me, the other did her part,

I love to think that my step mother loves me more

And though it can be confusing, I'm still grateful every day.

My birth mother, the one who gave me life,

Unfortunately has never been there in all the milestones of my life, though she still exists here on earth and is living her life the best way she can.

From her I inherited my body stature, eyes and my smile,

But my stepmother's warm embrace makes life worthwhile, fuels me with strength and motivation to keep pushing in life.

My birth mother is the one who held me, when I took my first breath,

But my stepmother's love, her strength, can conquer any depth,

She's taught me how to be patient, how to be kind,

And in her arms, I find peace of mind.

My stepmother, a treasure I did not expect,

She's taken me in, with love and respect,

She cares for me, like I was her own,

And from her heart, pure love has grown.

With her, I share my laughter and my tears,

She's with me through moments that are sweet or queer,

She shows me new ways to look at the world,

And in her strict upbringing combined with love, I turn out to be whom she is really proud of and find joy in.

Two mothers, two different paths,

Each of them with a unique feelings and ways to show them,

Blessed am I, or should I say I am really blessed to have two women in my world? Though one only, always stands out for me.

In her love, my life unfolds. But in the other I don't know where to place her.

But at times, it can be confusing,

Having two mothers, can be overwhelming,

I do not wonder who to turn to, who to trust,

Or which decisions for me are just? Because I already know whose thighs to lay my worry head on.

A stepmother so kind, so full of love,

A true angel sent from above,

Her care and guidance, a constant light,

Leading me through all of life's fights.

With her gentle touch and soothing voice,

She lifts me up when times are hoist,

A true friend that I can always count,

Helping me to surmount every amount.

Her heart and home, a place of peace,

A haven where love and kindness never cease,

She's taken me in, without hesitation,

And gave me a chance at a new creation.

I'm grateful beyond measure, for all she's done,

For being a light, in the darkest of suns,

I send my heartfelt thanks, to my stepmother dear,

For being the one who's always there.

But I've learned that love knows no category,

That the depth of love doesn't come from the bloodline,

It's about the bond that connects, a love that's fine.

So, I accept the confusion, and revel in the joy,

Of having two mothers, who each bring their own deploy,

For in her love, I see a reflection of my soul,

And in her care, my spirit is made whole.

I would say I'm blessed beyond words, to have two mothers, though one cares more.

Their love, their support, I really appreciate.

And though it can be confusing, I am grateful every day,

Though one among two, stands out for me.

This is my Ode to you my sweet step mother, may the years forever be kind to you and may you continue to smile and live.
