Somewhere deep within us all
Perches a parrot,
Witnessing,
Watching,
Wondering
When they will produce the perfect sound,
Present the prime performance.
Finally reaching the understanding
That the product is in the process.
Coaches, planes and trains
Cross continents to a Royal Road,
And an Early Summer Avenue.
Twelve pairs of eyes connect across a circle,
Bonding like atoms over films, food, culture,
Collective interests and common enemies.
We eat,
We drink,
We laugh,
We cry,
Racing, harder and faster towards the perfect show,
Achieving all the while.
Future friendships are dictated by directors.
In the same way that rivers become streams and rejoin in the sea,
We split apart and reunite in a constant flow of
Anecdotes, Inside jokes, and Instagram stories.
Four curious parrots watch us from windows atop the prop box,
They witness us as we grow, evolve and change,
Venturing through the French countryside,
Eating endless pastries, and drinking the Tabac's terrible coffee.
Some travel onwards, setting sail for new seas.
Heartfelt hugs goodbye, and highly anticipated hellos, lift the curtain on a new act.
The glamorous craze:
Van Life.
Four cramped creatives playing tetras with treasure chests, costumes, lighting poles, and groceries.
Music glimmers through noise cancelling headphones,
Underscoring hundreds of 6am sunrises,
Each day unique in its similarity.
Characters and actors grow hand in hand,
Succeeding with every scene,
Every line adds a golden coin to our treasure chests of memories.
All the while, Coco the parrot watches,
Perching in his prop box,
Ready for another day of
Repeating,
Renewing,
Refreshing,
The same squawk,
The same laugh,
The same wave.
Coco knows that every 'same' is different.
Every 'same' takes us on a different journey,
Every same achieves a different flavour of success.
