The Only power left

is embedded in the blankets of snow,

That tucked our houses in,

Leaving each of us with no option

but to sit with our thoughts.

I like how the snow chooses a place to fall

and slowly melt away with time,

Lounging on tree branches,

Hugging a telephone pole,

Causing school and work to cease.

How can I be patient like mother?

My body shakes while hers remains still,

She affects so many lives,

Where I am barely a speck.

Her first appearance every year

is breathtaking,

I worked so hard

to be a fraction of her beauty.

And the moment you fall in love,

The second you let your guard down,

she leaves.

No note left behind,

Not even a phone call from Winter

telling you where she ran off to.

Life is not fair,

Global warming is real.

But when the neighbor builds a snowman,

I will still smile.
