Beautiful drowning

It was a dreary day, the clouds covering the sun and raindrops falling from the sky. The trees were waving as the wind toyed with them, whimsically swaying to and fro. She was trying to stay focused and was staring at the monitor, intent on remembering the keywords so that she could recall them for the quiz. For a moment, she closed her eyes and was flooded by the beautiful blues,in every shade, flooding her senses. As she looked around in the sea of blue upon blue, the waves begin to gently crash upon her, growing bigger and more powerful - and somehow more gentle. They slammed into her with an intensity that surprised her, each drop of water caressing her like an azure embrace. She had never seen so many shades of blue, and couldn’t take her eyes off of it all as it crashed over her and sent her reeling into the huge waves. It was winter and the air was chilly, but the waves were warm and soothing. As she careened through the huge waves, she took a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling, as the quietly roaring sea of blue started sparkling and twinkling, as if the stars had come down from the heavens. She closed her eyes and felt the waves cradling her amidst a flurry of tiny lights. She started smiling and thought to herself “wow.”

When she opened her eyes, she was snuggled in a thick fleece blanket- so it must have all been a dream, and the lights of her fairy bed were still on- she must have fallen asleep before she shut them off. She smiled as she flung her long hair up over the pillow, and she felt something cold and wet against her face. . She sat up and saw a sprinkling of wet sand on her pillow, and found a tiny shell stuck to the nape of her neck. A hot tear slowly rolled down her cheek, and she tasted its saltiness as she licked her lips, as if to capture the tiny ocean cascading down her face.
