The importance of remembering to remember

In September, I looked over at my brother who was standing next to me in the pouring rain.

He’s younger than me but somehow seems so much older, and wiser.

We stood in our cheap $1 ponchos as we listened to a band he only knew two songs from. The wind and the rain were relentless, chilly.

That memory makes me smile when I think about it, one of those seemingly plain moments that means a lot more than you think it will.

I have to remember to remember more.

To live and to also look back.
