Everyone's Favorite Guy
Sometimes it's better to be overshadowed, than to be the loudest person in the room
He was audacious.
Loud.
Evereyone knew the sound of his laughter,
the sound his hand made when it touched a shoulder in greeting.
Which was all okay with me,
so I could go unnoticed.
Quietly.
In the back of the bar,
just me and my Kindle.
Sometimes it's okay to let others expend their energy so you can save yours.
They don't always need to hear your voice when you are in the room.
Are they worth it?
Your time and energy are more precious than anything They can tangibly give you.
Protecting your peace matters more than a pleasantry,
More than a laugh that could be saved for a time when you need it.
For a time when it's real,
and it makes your belly shake.
