Oblivion
Sweet Release

The clouds are rushing by so quickly, like they’ve got somewhere to be
Everybody’s always pushing, taking little parts for free
She holds on to her secrets, like they're trinkets made of gold
Locking her shame, inside the things, that keeps her heart controlled
She wears fear, like an accessory, so you can't see it in her eyes
Overloaded sensories, to mask the tell in its surprise
The smile that she offers you, veils the truth she hides away
If you're looking for the proof, listen to what she doesn't say
Looking for the freedom that once joined her on her journey
Oblivious this day would come, now nags at her, without mercy
She prays for wings to fly away and the will to find release
Jumping headfirst through the clouds, following the birds, to find her peace

Another get creation you had me at: The clouds are rushing by so quickly, like they’ve got somewhere to be Everybody’s always pushing, taking little parts for free. A very apt description of the clouds, and as usual, your rhyming is second to none. Loved it
Great job, as usual, loved it!!
This is light as a bird on the wing and as freighted with emotion as really bad news. And I have no idea how you managed to pull such a thing off. My hat’s off to you on this one, Kelli!
I think at one time or another we all feel like this sometimes.
Well written. I really felt this!
Beautifully written, love the metaphors.🙏
This is excellent. That first line really drew me in, and it just got better. Well done. Also, not at all the same, but I'm amused that we both wrote a poem with the same title, within hours of each other. Lol
