O Poetry O Poetry

An Acrostic Sonnet

Only words for a poet in exile

Penetrating a few minds to the heart

Oozing thoughts in search of something fertile

Entering a space in time for each part

Truth can never intrude on a poet

Reaching in and out to reading strangers

Yearning for ears more than eyes to know it

Over a dark rainbow’s inbuilt dangers

Pouring a cold drink for a hot winter

Outstretching time’s Punic sincerity

Enveloping each line with a splinter

Towards a near-semblance of clarity

Remembering in a puddle’s pictures

Yesterdays and their principal strictures
