O Mother

In the style of O Captain

By Brittany JeanPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

O Mother, my Mother, where have you gone?

You’ve left me, yes left me, now I am alone.

You said it’d be the last time I’d see you

and you walked out the door.

My heart is in pieces, shattered on the floor.

My heart, on the floor.

Fallen could and torn.

O Mother, my Mother, while I hide the hurt well.

The anger is with me, and on it will be, still.

No emotion will you see. No tears you’ll see spilled.

For you have stepped on my heart, shattered on the floor.

When you got up from the table and walked out the door.

My heart that has fallen.

Fallen cold and torn.

O Mother, my Mother, I’m forbidden to call?

You’ve made your choice, don’t you miss me at all.

Go home to your other, the one chosen above us all.

Stay quiet, stay faithful, as your loyalty lies in him.

Instead of your daughters, who’re quite disappointed and grim.

For I will never forget you walking out the door.

Stepping on my heart, shattered on the floor.

Fallen cold and torn.
