Not my fault

the POV of the Other Woman

By Laura ToddPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

It's not your fault

You don't love me the same

It's not your fault

That your joy is my shame

You really believed the lie

That your heart could grow

 to fit one more

And I

I fooled me too

When there were two

Or three, or four

You have a family now

I've been replaced

You can't talk right now

I've been erased

Remarried, replaced,

unneeded, erased

I made some bad choices, yes

Invited him in

A life of sin

And stress

He fooled me too

Acting like you

Strong medicine

I can live alone in fact

Years of practice down

Now I am found

Intact

Reject me, do

I don't need you

to straighten my crown

It's not my fault

You don't love me the same

It's not my fault

That your joy is my shame

heartbreak
