Not Just Sounds

A quiet meditation on empathy and choice.

Some sounds echo through pain, others heal it.

Between them — the fragile space where our choices live.

In the heat of a fight, someone fires a gun.

In a small shabby house, a child is learning to speak.

Those sounds are simple — and the air just trembles the same,

as it does any time, any day.

Those sounds… a pride or a shame?

If the first speaks of war causing pain overseas,

then the second calls gently for peace.

Can I ask you — is calmness the absence of sound?

There are sounds that harm no one —

can we let them flourish instead?

What we choose makes our essence unfold.

Would you coldly blast walls of refuge —

or serve others by baking bread?

What is peace?

A brief pause between wars?

It’s the choice to stay kind

while the world, in its madness, forgets

how precious life is…

Some believe human life just defiles the Earth.

But I’ll ask you again — is its nature the absence of humans?

We’re part of its harmony if we’re able to make the right choice.

And this choice — how loud does it sound?

Just escaping all hardships never stops dreadful threats…

Some believe we shouldn’t take sides,

should allow the victims to die,

since we cannot fight fire with fire,

nor withstand

all the tides…

Is it true?

Life itself proves it wrong.

You and me — all of us — can be strong.

And the Heaven itself — does it really never take sides?

If it had been that way,

life itself

would have faded

away…
