“Do you think there’s such a thing as perfect love?”
Claire’s voice barely rose above the sound of the waves.
They were sitting inside an old lighthouse—the kind long abandoned, with walls that still smelled faintly of salt and rain.
Oliver sat beside her on the cold stone floor, tracing circles in the dust.
“You mean the kind in movies?” he asked, his voice echoing softly against the curved walls.
She smiled faintly. “NO. The kind that doesn’t FADE. The kind that still feels like home no matter how long it’s been.”
The lantern they’d brought flickered, painting her face in shades of gold and shadow.
“I think we want to believe it exists,” he said.
“Because it gives us something to reach for. Because it’s easier than saying LOVE changes… or sometimes disappears quietly.”
Claire leaned her head back against the wall, listening to the waves crash below.
“Maybe that’s why people chase it so HARD,” she whispered.
“This idea of forever love —untouched, unbent, safe. But maybe love was NEVER meant to be perfect.”
She looked out at the horizon, her eyes reflecting the slow pulse of the sea.
“It’s meant to be real. Messy. Uncertain. The kind that breaks you just enough to teach you something TRUE.”
Oliver turned toward her, watching the light tremble across her features.
“So maybe perfect love does exist,” he said after a long pause,
“just NOT in how it LASTS but in how it makes you FEEL, even for a moment, like the world finally made sense.”
Claire smiled softly, eyes glistening in the lantern glow.
“Maybe that’s all we EVER get,” she said.
“A few perfect moments… not a perfect love.”

Wowww... this really hit the feels just like your bio says! thank you Komal! That line about the world finally making sense for a moment was just... wow. usss dreamers really needed to read that today. Amazing! ❤️
Exactly! Nice job.
Definitely speaks volumes over expectations vs what we get
My grandparents had a love that never fade. They had their 60th anniversary before they past away. I still believe in that kind of love. Love your story ❤️ 💕
You’ve captured this feeling perfectly. Perhaps our obsession with perfect, forever love is more a fear of death than anything else. We change from moment to moment- it stands to reason that love will always do the same. ❤️
When I reflect on the past, I think about small moments I've had with people. These moments matter far more than material possessions, like houses, cars, or professional success. It seems that the "small moments" are often perfect expressions of love in disguise.
This really made me stop and think. Such a beautiful, tender piece.
That last line rings out with so much truth. I love this take on the realism and expectations of love, life and relationships.
Beautifully written. 👏👏👏 I have to sa,y my view of perfect love is that it has to change, because the people in it are changing. On hopes to fit together more completely. Becoming one so to speak. ❤️🔥
This is such a nice breath of fresh air. We all long for the love that fills us with wonder and powerful energy!
Authentic love is rare but it's just as we are, perfectly imperfect. The heart sees its own version of perfect . I am rooting for Oliver and Claire ❤️😍
Ah yes, you've got it my friend. We have some A+ moments. But perfection in the long term --a bit of a rare story! True and brilliantly expressed.
