Not every battle is worth fighting

Silence can be your strength.

Pick the battles, weigh the cost,

Some wars bring nothing but decay,

Strength is not always in clenched fists raised,

But steeped in knowing when to walk away.

Not every fire needs to char and burn,

Not every wound deserves a valiant scar,

Some storms dissolve before the hammer strikes,

Some echoes fade before they agonize and jar.

Some wars rage only in the mind,

Where silence finds a sharper blade,

And walking away bodes not defeat,

But wisdom whispering..be gently unafraid.

  • Oooo, this was extremely powerful. Loved your poem!

  • I would quarrel with you over this, Antoni, but I guess that would simply prove the point. Point well said & taken, my friend.

Well-wrought! This one bespeaks one of the many apt and adaptable interpretations of the old saw: Discretion is the better part of valour.

"And walking away bodes not defeat"- my favorite line and a lesson I learned the hard way in my youth. Also, Rohitha's story is fantastic. I read it before, but I will surely read it again.
